Child's Room

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What challenges do I solve for you?

Birth to six years old:

  • Eating: is your child a fussy or poor eater, do they refuse food based on colour or whether it’s all “touching”? I will gently encourage children and help your family enjoy the simple delight of discovering and sharing food together again.

  • Language delay/ communication issues: around 2 years old, you believe they don't meet the language developmental milestones for their age. Their language abilities may be developing at a slower rate than most children. You are worried... Shifting perspective by looking at the situation through a different light and readjusting some habits will help to find the appropriate way of helping your little one. With my approach, the changes are often quick and effective.

  • Going to bed: everyone is tired at the end of the day and with that comes frayed nerves. It’s easy for bedtime to turn into a flashpoint for even the calmest of homes. I’ll help you find a soothing routine that means more stories and snuggles.

  • Sleep issues: if your child wakes repeatedly, it’s going to take a toll on everyone’s wellbeing. And exhaustion often means you’re too tired to make changes alone. My role is to offer tried and trusted strategies and then support you as put them in place.

  • Tantrums: tantrums and meltdowns are incredibly common and natural in this age group. And they can feel like they come from nowhere. I’ll help you identify triggers, offer suggestions for coping and get you and your little one moving towards calm.

  • New sibling: getting ready for a new baby is an exciting and demanding time for the whole family, so it’s no surprise that small children can struggle. We can work together to help everyone feel comfortable and prepared.

  • Sibling quarrels: we want our children to love, value and treasure each other for a lifetime. But the reality of raising small brothers and sisters often involves a good deal of arguments. I’ll help you foster their friendship and create more peace.

  • Social skills: “please”, “thank you”, "Hello", "Good bye", listening skills, sharing, making eye contact and following instructions are all vital to success at school and in society. I’ll use the Montessori approach to encourage these behaviours naturally.

  • Preparing your child for school: starting school is a huge step for you and your child. You want them to embrace their education and confidently settle and enjoy all the opportunities it offers. But everyone is different, so I’ll work to find your child the perfect tools to thrive.

Six to twelve years old:

New challenges arise, sometimes a result of the continuity of habits taken from early childhood. These habits require to be understood and approached with the correct strategies.

  • Sleep issues: your six, seven, eight-year-old even older child still has trouble falling asleep on their own. The anxiety of falling asleep is the continuity of habits acquired during the early childhood amplified by new challenges linked to new development stages. This is easily re-educated through simple and effective exercises. Around 4 years old your child was scared of monsters a normal step in a child development. At this stage, your child is scared or worried about accidents, robbers, or even kidnapping,... It is important to support your child to find peaceful sleep.

  • Stress/Anxiety: growing also means dealing with new challenges such as competition, school exams, the pressure of peers, family issues,... who can be some source of stress and anxiety among others sources.

  • Bully: being bullied is more common than we think and has serious impact on all aspects of your child's life. Being equipped to deal with such challenging situations in a confident and positive way is certainly one of the best tools you will provide to your child in the long term.

  • Communications issues: your child starts arguing with you. It hurts and upsets you. She/he has never been like this before. Again, with the relevant approach, you will easily deal with that phase of development.

  • Concentration and focus: in our modern world, everything goes faster and faster, children are easily distracted, have difficulties to complete a task up to the end, lose their belongings, forget pieces of information, move without any specific goal... My job is to help you go back to a more peaceful way of living and support them in being present.

The concerns listed on this page are a sample of what I support you in dealing with and find appropriate ways to build future proof mechanisms.

What's Montessori Parenting Consulting?

Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori's approach, children make creative choices in their learning, while the environment and the highly trained teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children work to discover and explore the world to develop their knowledge and potential to the maximum.
